Man Without Pants is Not a Band Name
I've been in radio for quite some time, and let me tell you this industry attracts some, shall we say 'quirky' individuals. Keep in mind, most of us couldn't hold down a 'real' job, and that's why we're here. So when I read the story about a radio guy in Florida being arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior, I didn't think that much about it. Let's face it, in radio it's just not that surprising. Then I realized that it happened in Florida. Florida- the sunshine state, where most of the dumb criminals and weird news stories seem to some from lately. So, when you take someone that works in a profession that attracts weirdos (excepting me, of course), and put them in a state where weird behavior is commonplace, hilarity is bound to ensue. The story goes that a pants-less man who was driving a van in the city of Seagrove, spotted 2 women and asked them "where to find the nude beach in the area." He then asked them to get in the van, to which they refused. Where is the radio part of the story? Well, as it turns out, the man happens to be the 40 yr old station manager of Christian radio station WLJR.
After receiving the call from the women, James Ashley Hulgan was arrested at his apartment on felony charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, and a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure.
The radio station is owned and operated by the Briarwood Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, Ala.
So, the key is to not take that kind of behavior outside of the radio station.
Around here, when you see the station manager without any pants on, we call it 'Tuesday.'
