It's been a couple of weeks since I posted any progress or regress about my battle with cancer. And oh what a couple of weeks it has been. Roughly 2 weeks ago, I went back to DeTar on a Saturday morning for another scheduled PET scan. It was my first PET scan that revealed that I indeed did have cancer so you can understand my hesitance to get a second one done. Well, the following week I returned to my Oncologist's office to discuss the results. After hearing him tell me there were a couple of "spots" on my lungs and being almost positive that my cancer had spread there, I was extremely nervous to hear what he had to say. After what seemed like an eternity waiting in the room with my wife, he finally comes in and tells me that my PET scan was much better than my first one and that there was no active cancer in my body.

So what does that mean? Am I cancer free? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. It means there is no active cancer in my body....just what it sounds like. They usually don't declare you in remission until after you finish chemotherapy which, for me, will be August 26th. Afterward there will be no surgery, no radiation, no bone marrow or stem cell transplants that were discussed with me in the beginning. I can't tell you how much relief my wife and I are feeling. My journey is not over yet but the light at the end of the tunnel is looking that much brighter.

I'll keep you posted.
