‘The Commuter’ Trailer: Liam Neeson’s on a Hell of a Train Ride
Before Liam Neeson completely retires from the Liam Neeson action thriller genre, he has two films on tap: Hard Powder (in which he plays a snowplow driver who goes up against drug dealers, as only Liam Neeson could), and The Commuter, which reunites the actor with Non-Stop and Run All Night director Jaume Collet-Serra. On the heels of Neeson’s retirement announcement comes the first trailer for the latter, which basically seems like Non-Stop, but this time it’s on a train and Vera Farmiga is apparently playing the evil twin of her character from The Departed.

It’s not an exact science, making movies. Plenty of projects get stuck in the suspended animation of development, and even those that move forward do so at a gradual pace. But sometimes, everything works out just perfectly: two years ago, I reported on a picture called Felt, a biopic of Watergate informant Mark ‘Deep Throat’ Felt starring Liam Neeson in the title role. I forgot about the item soon afterward, but production has been chugging along for the past couple of years, and director Peter Landesman is preparing to unveil this new film at the most perfect time imaginable. You can plan for a lot, but it takes a stroke of divine generosity for a full-scale Presidential treason investigation to break out around the time you release your Watergate movie.

‘Silence’ Is Brutal in the International Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Passion Project
As Silence prepares to hit select theaters this weekend (the rest of you will have to wait until January), Paramount has unveiled a new international trailer for Martin Scorsese’s long-developing passion project — an epic drama based on Japanese author Shusaku Endo’s acclaimed novel. There are a couple of notable things about this trailer for Silence: For one, it’s a bit more intense than the domestic versions, and because it’s a Japanese trailer, the Japanese cast members are more prominently featured.

The world of movie-TV reboots accommodates a great many approaches these days, not the least curious of which will see Liam Neeson’s Taken character Bryan Mills returned to his formative years, yet still in the modern day. We now know which actor will develop his particular set of skills as well, setting Vikings star Clive Standen as our new Taken man.

Liam Neeson to Star in ‘The Commuter,’ His Fourth Film With Director Jaume Collet-Serra
Liam Neeson is to director Jaume Collet-Serra what Leonardo DiCaprio is to Martin Scorsese. Neeson has become the action-dad-icon muse for Collet-Serra, who has just cast the leading man in yet another action film. The Commuter marks the fourth collaboration between Neeson and Collet-Serra, following Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night — all of which form a sort of informal trilogy of films in which Neeson plays a man burdened by his past who battles criminal elements while rocking a seriously sweet leather jacket.

Liam Neeson Says He’s Ready to Quit Action Movies
With Taken, Liam Neeson became an unlikely action star, with his quiet, solemn masculinity lending gravitas to even the silliest dialogue and story beats. But rather than use the success of that instantly meme-able film as an excuse to pursue more period dramas and British weepies, Neeson embraced his newfound action hero identity. Now, after seven years of snapping necks and gunning people down across several continents, it looks like he’s ready to retire from the action hero game for good.

Liam Neeson may act like a total badass when he's in movies like ‘Taken’, but he's not above poking a little fun at his new tough guy persona. The actor appeared in a new Super Bowl commercial for Clash of Clans and delivered a monologue that sounds as if it were taken (no pun intended) from one of his shoot-em-up action movies.
