Before Liam Neeson completely retires from the Liam Neeson action thriller genre, he has two films on tap: Hard Powder (in which he plays a snowplow driver who goes up against drug dealers, as only Liam Neeson could), and The Commuter, which reunites the actor with Non-Stop and Run All Night director Jaume Collet-Serra. On the heels of Neeson’s retirement announcement comes the first trailer for the latter, which basically seems like Non-Stop, but this time it’s on a train and Vera Farmiga is apparently playing the evil twin of her character from The Departed.

The Commuter stars Neeson as a dad — he’s not like a regular dad, he’s a cool dad who gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy on a train that will presumably force him to become a reluctant hero. Unlike his roles in other action thrillers, this one doesn’t come with a particular set of skills obtained through years of being a professional badass. In this film, Neeson plays an insurance salesman. It’s wild! It gets even crazier when he meets a mysterious woman (played by Farmiga) who offers him $75,000 to find the person on the train who “doesn’t belong.”

So Liam Neeson doesn’t have any particularly badass skills, and his newest foe is Vera Farmiga? Sign me up, like, yesterday.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding and is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy. One that carries life and death stakes for himself and his fellow passengers.

The Commuter hits theaters on January 12, 2018.
