Julia Ducournau’s French cannibal coming-of-age movie (no, I didn’t think I’d ever type that phrase either) Raw has been making waves ever since its Cannes debut last year, and a lot of those waves happen to be those of nausea. The film reportedly features so many scenes of gory flesh-eating that it caused audience members to feel physically ill and faint at numerous festival screenings. Now that it’s out in theaters in a limited release, one theater in Los Angeles has a solution: personal barf bags.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ushers at the Nuart Theatre in LA have been handing moviegoers at Raw screenings custom-made barf bags and explaining that, due to the graphic nature of the film, some people have had less-than-agreeable reactions to its content. Raw is the story of a girl who finds she has a taste for raw flesh, living amongst a group of peers who bring out her darker side. To top it all off, it’s set at a veterinary school.

“One of the staff at the Nuart took up the initiative to make the barf bags out of paper lunch bags. What a fun idea! I remember that used to be done with some horror releases in the 1970s,” Mark Valen, a programmer for Landmark Theatres and the Nuart, told THR.

What a fun idea, indeed. Theaters in other parts of the country have caught on, handing out paper bags with the movie’s logo stamped on them. If you can stomach the bloodier scenes, they’d certainly make for a nice souvenir. If not, at least you won’t have to use your popcorn bag.
