Victoria is definitely growing. As the population grows, so does the addition and expansion of businesses which is great for the area. Unfortunately, with the effect of the economy nationwide, other businesses are closing their doors in some places, including Victoria.

According to a report in the Victoria Advocate, Office Depot at 7708 Zac Lentz Parkway will close their doors on May 20th, while the other location at 5106 N. Navarro will stay open. Company officials say the move is part of their 3-year plan which was announced last August.

Another store closing their doors in Victoria is Rooms To Go. Company officials say the store at 3607 N. Navarro will remain open until the end of April, and won't renew their lease which expires at that time. Officials say they will open a new location in Houston in May.

Although the discount shoe store Payless Shoes has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection this week, the company says the 2 stores here in Victoria will remain open. The company will restructure and will close around 380 stores across the country.
