Victoria Shows Our Appreciation on First Responders Day

Today is National First Responders Day and we shared our appreciation, loud and proud outside of the studio this morning. We waited patiently as the procession for first responders and crime units from Victoria, Yoakum, Cuero, and even Montgomery county made their way from the Pattie Dodson center, down Mockingbird lane, taking a left on John Stockbauer, where they would park at Parkway Church, next to the Field of Honor.

After the procession, filmed live, made its way to Parkway, we followed and got the chance to interview Col. Petrash himself. Along with Col. Petrash, individuals with the Warriors Weekend field of honor put together not only this procession, but a celebration ceremony complete with color guard, bagpipe, drum corps, and rifle squad. In meeting Col. Petrash, he stated that his mission was to create a community of support and excellence, noting that we are celebrating for the first time in 12 years, not just law enforcement, but firefighters, EMTs, but also including those on the medical front lines responding to COVID.

Being able to support the community we thrive in is an exciting experience and as we were able to see all who attended the ceremony to celebrate these individuals fill up the parking lot at Parkway Church so quickly, we were overwhelmed with gratitude. In order to continue building support and help honor those in the Golden Crescent who do so much, Col. Petrash states, “it’s great to thank them for their service, but, support people who support first responders.” We are grateful for these responders’ commitment to protect and serve us!
