Victoria Parks and Rec have made plans for "drive-in" style fireworks this Fourth of July!

The new drive-in format will help residents enjoy a patriotic fireworks show while allowing spectators to keep a safe distance from others. The fireworks will take place at the Victoria Community Center with parking open to guests at 5 PM with the show starting at 9 PM.

The city will have parking attendants on hand to guide guests into the community center parking lot. If you wish you may also park in the nearby area of the community center to see the fireworks. Just be sure you are parked legally if you opt to park someplace besides the community center parking lot. Based on the crowds from years past, the city is confident there will be plenty of parking at the center. Cars will need to turn off their engines during the fireworks show.

Skywonder Pyrotechnics will offer residents an app that will sync the fireworks to music that will also be played over the community center loudspeakers. You may want the app if you really want to be able to hear the music.

This year the event will feature a cornhole/washers tournament at 6 PM. You can get signed up according to the city by visiting victoriatx.gov/registration. A team can register for a $20 fee to be collected on the day of the event. This tournament may be canceled if warranted due to COVID-19 conditions.

Food trucks will be on hand for the evening and you are welcomed to pack a meal or bring a cooler as long as it does not contain any glass items of any kind.

For more information or to register a food truck, contact Parks & Recreation at 361-485-3200.
