It's a number many of us could not have even begun to imagine a year ago for our little big city of Victoria, but as of Friday, Dec. 11th we have sadly lost 103 of our community members to COVID and COVID related issues. Over a hundred community members. It's hard to fathom.

"One death is too many. It's just such an unfortunate reality of COVID." David Gonzales, Victoria County Public Health Department Director, offers to the Crossroads community. "Our goal now is to minimize future deaths. The new treatments and immunizations that are available give us hope,"  Director Gonzales adds.

We are in the beginning of what the CDC defines as "flu -season,"

"While influenza viruses circulate year-round, most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February, but activity can last as late as May," the CDC reminds us. Many of us do not realize this, but FEBRUARY seems to be the peak for flu season in the United States.

Now is the time to be reminded that one of the greatest ways to not contract COVID-19 is to minimize exposure to the virus. Unfortunately, this means minimizing being in crowded public places during the holidays and limiting gatherings, even with family.
