As you may have guessed, the City of Victoria has elected to keep all city facilities closed on Tuesday, February 16th.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Tuesday evening at 7 pm through Wednesday Morning at 6 am. The freezing rain that is expected this evening may also keep businesses closed on Wednesday.

The following city services will be closed today as reported by Crossroadstoday.com.

  • Tuesday garbage services (solid waste, trash, limb, yard waste, and recycling) will resume their schedule later this week.
  • The landfill and compost and brush site will open at 9 am.
  • Waste management will open at 10 am.
  • Victoria Public Library closed.
  • Riverside Golf Course closed.

Right now, Victoria city services will attempt to resume normal hours Wednesday but stay tuned for updates or last-minute changes. You can also follow the city's announcements at www.victoriatx.gov.

Tonight's Winter Storm Warning is expected to bring another evening of fridge wind chills at or near zero degrees and even more freezing rain that Victoria saw on Sunday evening. Wednesday morning's commute will be interesting, to say the least. Chances for freezing rain are at 80% for this evening with low temps reaching the upper 20s.

Difficult travel conditions are expected tonight and tomorrow morning. If you must travel you might bring with you a flashlight, food and water, and even an emergency blanket along with a coat, hat, and gloves.

The latest Texas road conditions are always available by dialing 5-1-1 from your phone.
