The Victoria County United Way is celebrating its 72nd Anniversary this year and plans to be better than ever with its new mission as the "new United Way, more incredible events have been planned as they continue their mission to support local nonprofits and the people of our extended communities.

" VCUW  has the reputation as our community's major fundraiser, but United Way doesn't just raise money. Today we are a focused, results-driven system working year-round to change community conditions and create lasting solutions," The Victoria County United Way offers on its website here. Even as the 'new' Victoria County United Way, Victoria and surrounding counties they serve can expect the mission of the VCUW to continue.

"The Victoria County United Way works to advance the common good within the crossroads area (VIctoria, DeWitt, Goliad and Lavaca counties) by creating opportunities for a better life for all. This is accomplished through our funding of programs and initiatives provided by partner agencies, participation in collaborative efforts, and involving our community in solutions that benefit all of us," VCUW offers.

It's with their mission in mind that on Tuesday, October 20th the VCUW along with Center for Peace Victoria and Be Well Victoria announce their latest collaboration, "commUNITY book club." On October 20th grab your book and join these three amazing nonprofits as they begin a virtual discussion of the New York Times Best Selling book, How to be Anti-Racist by Ibram Kendi.

How to be Anti-Racist is a "2019 non-fiction book by American author and historian Ibram X. Kendi. The book discusses concepts of racism and Kendi's proposals for anti-racist individual actions and systemic changes," Wikipedia offers.

You can register today with the virtual wrap up and discussion on November 19th at 5:30 pm.  Be a part of this incredible event by registering today on the VCUW Facebook page here.
