UPDATE: (6:00 AM Friday)

Tropical Depression #8 has strengthened to become Tropical Storm Hanna. The storm is expected to make landfall around 1 PM Saturday near Corpus Christi. Victoria could see heavy rainfall associated with this storm.

Hanna is currently moving WNW at 9 MPH and is packing around 40 MPH sustained winds. Tropical Storm force winds will be possible until Saturday afternoon.


The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Victoria County as Tropical Depression #8 continues to creep closer to the Texas coast.

The US National Weather Service in Corpus Christi released the video update below and shared it with social media just before 5 P.M. Thursday.

Tropical Depression Eight continued to show a modest increase in intensity on Thursday afternoon. It will continue its westward course through the Gulf of Mexico before making a very likely Texas landfall.

Landfall on the Texas coast is expected sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning as a Depression or Tropical storm.

The main threat will be from heavy rain across South Texas that could total 3 to 5 inches with higher totals possible through the weekend. Minor coastal flooding is possible with an expected two-foot inundation on our coast and the bays.
