Colorado Rockies superstar Todd Helton is one of the greatest hitters of his generation, thanks in large part to his keen eye at the plate. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about his mugshot. The 39-year-old first baseman was arrested early Wednesday morning at a Colorado gas station for allegedly driving drunk.

That's right, the legendary Todd Helton, a man who has earned hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of a 16-year career (including $20 million last year), decided that he couldn't make it even one more night without getting his drunken scratch-off fix.

According to a police report, cops were alerted that a black pick-up truck had slalomed its way straight into concrete barrier, eventually coming to rest outside of a local gas station. Sure enough, the trail of debris led straight to a thoroughly sloshed Helton, who was discovered staggering out of the convenience store with a handful of lottery tickets. When questioned, the five-time All-Star denied that he'd gotten into an accident, but was all too happy to describe the night's intake of wine and lotto purchases.

In his defense, Todd clearly felt bad about screwing up. Helton's now-infamous mugshot reveals a man who is too ashamed to face his many fans, the closed eyes indicative of someone who realizes that he's just done something incredibly stupid.

Either that, or he was just too hammered to handle his close-up.
