For the second consecutive year, the San Antonio Riverwalk will light up early for the Christmas Holidays.  Last year the lights were switched a little early due to the COVID-19 pandemic to bring some much-needed holiday cheer after a very rough year.  The lights are usually switched on just after Thanksgiving to give the fall holiday its moment to shine.

CHRISTMAS FUN COMES EARLY AGAIN THIS YEAR:

As reported by KENS-TV in San Antonio, the Riverwalk Christmas lights will be switched on Nov. 12 again, according to the San Antonio River Walk. Following tradition. Even though the lights will turn on early, they will still follow tradition.  the official lighting ceremony will still take place the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, Nov. 26 during the Holiday River Parade! As always, Visiting the River Walk to enjoy the spectacular holiday lights is free. However, parking is not in downtown San Antonio, so it's sorta free.

IT'S A PRODUCTION:

The lighted Riverwalk includes more than 100,000 LED bulbs along 25 linear miles if they were laid side by side. City leaders say the lights will stay on until January 10, 2022. I see this every year and every year this is an awesome sight!  It's also great to have the Holiday parade back after being canceled last year due to the pandemic.

A DIFFERENT LOOK:

Just in case you haven't been to San Antonio in a while, it's not the Rivercenter Mall anymore. Now it's the Shops at Rivercenter and definitely has an updated and a more upscale look with many new stores, restaurants, and attractions.  Check it out by clicking here.
