Police are still investigating a bizarre accident that involves a two-year-old in Texas grabbing a gun and accidentally shooting their mother and one-year-old sibling.

Wednesday afternoon in Granbury Texas, which is just outside of Ft. Worth, police and paramedics were called to a bizarre scene to find a family in absolute distress after their two-year-old toddler accidentally fired a gun in the family vehicle, shooting their 23-year-old mother and their 1-year infant sibling.

How did it happen?

Police are still investigating but so far it's been reported that while parked outside of Wal-Mart in Granbury, the two-year-old toddler reached for the firearm that was concealed between the seat and the center console and accidentally discharged it, hitting their mother, who was standing outside of the vehicle in the arm and side and hitting the 1-year-old sibling in the leg. The toddler's father, a 26-year-old was standing outside of the vehicle near the rear when it happened.

Thankfully, neither the infant nor the mother was severely wounded.

Mother and infant were taken to an Ft. Worth hospital and are expected to recover.

Police are apparently still investigating the accident and have yet to determine if any charges will be filed.

Fox4 News covers the story on Youtube.

Charges could be filed if the parents of the toddler failed to conceal the firearm correctly pending further investigation.
