Texas Study Says 1 in 6 Texans are Infected with COVID
Not that learning that over a million cases of COVID have been reported in Texas wasn't discerning enough, a new study suggests that one in every six Texans have or have been infected with Covid-19.
Victoria's numbers are high as well. Yesterday, the Victoria Emergency Operations Management hosted another live meeting regarding our community's continued staggering infection numbers and to educate residents on how to stay safe during the Thanksgiving holidays.
Sadly the Victoria Health Department has announced the death of another Victoria resident, a male in his 60's due to COVID. As of 6:30 pm on November 17th, the VHD reported;
According to a recent statistical analysis by the University of Texas at Austin COVID-19 Modeling Consortium, the analysis estimates that the virus is spreading rapidly and so far has infected more than 16 percent of people in Texas, far more than the state’s official tally.
This is in the wake of Gov. Abbott announcing he will not allow Texas to be shut down again. You can read our latest article on Gov. Abbott's announcement in the button below.
According to the San Antonio Express-News latest reporting, the University of Texas Modeling Consortium estimates that in fact, roughly 4.75 million Texans have contracted COVID-19.
Keeping in mind this is just an estimate, "researchers’ approximation of 4.75 million cases is “generally in the ballpark” of what state health officials believe is the true number of infections, said Chris Van Deusen, a spokesman for the Texas Department of State Health Services, which publishes the state’s official COVID-19 infection figures.''
