You can keep your speed demon, wedgy-wielding, sky-high, water park rides.

Texas rivers are back open for tubing BABY and this self-proclaimed River Rat just needed the green light, an old tire tube, and ice-cold river water for a good time this holiday!

With Spring Break around the corner and the mandates and limits lifted, now is a good time as any to hit any of the dozens of Texas rivers for a totally tubular getaway you can either enjoy as a daycation or a vacation with family, friends, both or yep, even the River Rats you will meet along the way!

When I was a little kid, five or six years old, my mother took me tubing for the first time that I can remember. I've always been a decent and avid pool swimmer so I wasn't naturally afraid of the water but I'd never seen river water in my WHOLE life and I know it terrified me. Its dark green bottom hid Lord only knows what was lurking at the bottom but I determined not to be "that" kid or if I'm being really honest, not wanting to get left behind, I climbed into my tube and started down the Comal.

Honey, that's all she wrote. I was hooked. Albeit moments of paranoia to this creep into my mind from time to time, that a turtle or more seriously a snake will bite my toe or my rear end, I've been tubing off and on for over 40 years and nothing has ever happened. Except for fun of course. The fun happens every time we go!

I've even tubed rivers in Colorado and yep, New York too.

One of my favorite things about tubing is literally bumping into people I've never met before. Texas River Rats are my favorite and I'm proud to be called one of their very own.

When was the last time you've been tubing?

Check out these popular Texas river links for Comal, San Marcos, Frio, or our nearest and dearest Guadalupe rivers.

Where there is river water, you will always find a friendly river rat. Grab a tube and introduce yourself to one! We'll be waiting for ya!
