President Trump has approved the latest Texas Emergency Disaster Declaration due to Hurricane Hanna.

After months of dealing with COVID and economic hardships,Texans braced themselves for Hurricane Hanna with Hurricane Harvey's destruction still fresh in their minds.

Hanna's winds were recorded at 90 mph during the storm, and heavy rains threatened severe flooding. With the combination of high winds and heavy rain many coastline communities experienced severe to moderate damage to buildings, businesses and homes.

FEMA announced federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Texas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Hanna from July 25, 2020, and continuing.

According to the FEMA article, federal funding is available to the state, eligible local governments, and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance and reimbursement for mass care including evacuation and shelter support, at 75 percent federal funding.

Those counties approved for FEMA funds include; Calhoun, Goliad, Jackson, Matagorda, Refugio, Victoria, and Wharton counties.
