If you're like me, you like to get in the car for a road trip to explore strange and unusual things you've never seen before. I've lived in the Lone Star State for a long time now but, there's a lot that I haven't had the pleasure of visiting. Naturally, I have seen some of the big ones like the Alamo, the Astrodome, the State Capital, 6th Street and a few more, but there are a few more unusual tourist attractions that I will add to my list, inspired by an article I recently ran across.

Marfa is the home of the Marfa Lights, but it's also a thriving artist community.

The Tree Sculpture Tour in Galveston features the work of local artists who created art out of damaged trees the result of Hurricane Ike in 2008.

The Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo is truly unique with 10 old Caddys planted in the ground in 1974. Still standing, visitors are allowed to add their creativity by spray-painting the cars.

Of course, there are natural scenic places to visit like Big Bend National Park, scenic drives like the Texas Swiss Alps Scenic Drive, and so much more. But with a state this big, who has the time to see it all?
