NFL Week 1: Texans Vs Chiefs
Thanks for joining KLUB 106.9 for Week 1 Action featuring the Houston Texans vs the Kansas City Chiefs!
It's great to have the NFL back and as tonight's game gets underway we will follow the highlights here. Keep in mind that due to NFL rules the game will only be featured on the air at KLUB 106.9 FM. We are not permitted to share this game with you on our station stream or mobile app.
Prior to tonight's game, the Chiefs are favored by 9.5. Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Texans announced the resigning of Quarterback Deshawn Watson.
The team and the QB reached an agreement on a 4-year extension that averages $39 million a year with a $27 million signing bonus. This is in addition to the 2 years he has left on his original contract. So he’s tied to the team for 6 years.
Final: TEXANS 20 CHIEFS 34
It may be hard to remember but the Texans actually had the lead early, but after a nice start, this one was all Kansas City. The Texans offense came out looking rusty in their matchup against the Chiefs. On the defensive side of the ball, the Texans looked like they had not tried to tackle anyone since their last trip to Arrowhead Stadium. They will need to pick it up a notch on both sides of the ball. The Texans looked slow compared to the runaway train that was the Chiefs. Every play will have to be faster if they want a different result next week.
A late run by the team made this one interesting, but this game was all Kansas City. Give the Texans credit for playing until time expired. I did think it was a little odd that at one point or another, we saw just about everyone on camera either not wearing a mask properly, or no mask at all. Coaches, fans, you name it. We should be able to win a buck for every person with a mask hanging off their ear while they talk to someone. It was pretty lax at Arrowhead.
The Texans will look to improve in week 2 as they take on the Baltimore Ravens for the home opener. The Ravens are already favored by a touchdown and will kickoff against the Texans at 3:25 PM on Sunday, September 20th.
