SLOW DOWN ON SAM HOUSTON DRIVE:

Just in case you haven't noticed or don't ever drive down Sam Houston during school rush hours. Brand new School Zones signs are popping up. The recently installed lights are a little shorter than usual and do not feature flashing lights.

NO FLASHING LIGHTS:

The newly designated posted school zone speed limit is 20 MPH and runs from just in front of the Children's Discovery Museum to just before the intersection of Sam Houston and Ben Wilson right in front of Liberty Academy. Liberty Academy is still the 'temporary home' for Stroman Middle School.

***You might want to share this post because without flashing lights some people might not notice this sign.***

HERE ARE THE POSTED SCHOOL ZONE TIMES:

7:30 A.M to 8:30 P.M

3:20 P.M to 4:20 P.M

NO CELL PHONES IN A SCHOOL ZONE:  Here are the specifics. Texas school zone law, HB 347, prevents using a cell phone when driving through an active school crossing zone. This includes property of a public elementary, middle, or junior high school for which a local authority has designated a school crossing zone.
