New Medical Facility In Victoria Opening 2025

“We have an opportunity to capitalize on land within city limits that are sitting vacant because of a lack of infrastructure,” Assistant City Manager Mike Etienne said. “In cases like this where undeveloped land already has reasonable access to utilities, adding one sewer line can open up a huge amount of property.”

The press release further added, under the agreement, "The Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation will reimburse the developer, Diversified Wellness Associates, up to $380,000 after the sewer line is installed. The funding for the project will come from Type 4B sales tax revenue, which must be used for economic development."

Etienne said the new sewer line and the medical plaza will have an economic “multiplier effect” by bringing new high-paying jobs, economic activity, and taxable property to Victoria. The completed medical plaza will generate an estimated $51,175 in property tax per year.

“Victoria has an increasing need for updated medical facilities that make use of new technology,” said Dharmendra Verma, of Diversified Wellness Associates. “We need to expand our capabilities so that people from Victoria and surrounding cities can receive treatment here instead of traveling to Houston or San Antonio.”

Springwood Medical Plaza is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 31, 2025, and will feature four Class A buildings. The first of these buildings is under construction and has already been completely leased out.

Victoria’s comprehensive plan, Plan 2035, which you read about here, calls for the City to support the growth of the medical sector in order to enhance the local economy and improve residents’ access to health care.
