A new piece of legislation introduced to the Texas House would allow the repealing of the Blue Laws (also known as Sunday Laws) and have liquor store be able to sell on Sundays. State Representative, Richard Peña Raymond (Laredo Democrat) has introduced House Bill 1100, which would allow liquor stores to be open seven days a week. The bill would also have the stores operate between 9:00 in the morning and 10:00 at night, Monday through Saturday. Also, the stores would be open Sunday from noon to ten o'clock.

Currently, 42 of the 50 U.S States sell spirits on Sunday and Texas does allow other retailers (like grocery stores, bars, clubs, restaurants, ect.) to sell liquor except for liquor stores. Originally, Sunday Laws were set in place so people would focus on attending church and resting. However, over the years the Sunday Laws have been amended to allow the selling of various items (many that would surprise you that weren't outlawed to be sold on Sunday).
