Times are changing really fast!  From shelving some Dr. Suess and possibly Curious George's books to most recently, Pepe-le-Pew being cut from cartoons. It seems that everything thing that we grew up with as kids are being deemed 'offensive' for today's generation. Basically implying that the way we grew up was often offensive and insensitive. While this should offend me, all I offer is a 'c'mon man' with a light-hearted smile.

Here is another change that could be coming your way.

The State of California is leading the charge for a bill that would require stores to maintain general-neutral sections or face big fines. Stores that violate the proposed legislation could face a $1,000 fine.

As reported by 21CBS-DFW, the bill introduced by Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Campbell) would require retail department stores with 500 or more employees to maintain areas on their sales floor not divided by gender. He continues to say that this stigmatizes children who want to wear or play with something marketed for the opposite sex. Low went on to add  “Rather than having a separate boy’s or girl’s section, let’s just have a 'kid's section. And that’s what the conversation is about. Let’s make sure that we remove the kind of stigma, the type of bullying that we still see, especially in this day and age,”

The bill doesn't require the items themselves to be gender-neutral, rather, the proposal targets the categorization of those items, banning signage identifying which sex or gender they are designed for.
