Industrial Middle School Art Students Get Crafty to Help Build One of A Kind Dog Houses For A Great Cause.

Here is your chance to buy a doghouse for your fur baby and help build homes for families in need in our community.

The project is being hosted by the Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity and dubbed the ReStore Flip.

ReStore Flip is a construction challenge given to groups of volunteers to build unique, one-of-a-kind doghouses to help to ensure homes are built for families in need in the Crossroads for 2022.

The material these teams used to build their doghouse came straight from old furniture they upcycle from the ReStore.

Alana Sharp who teaches art at Industrial Middle School often volunteers for non-profits herself so when she read about the GC Habitat ReStore Flip she thought her art students would enjoy the building crafting and art challenge.

As it turns out they literally flipped for the chance to help their community.

The Industrial middle schoolers said yes as soon as they heard that the money they raised by selling the doghouse would help families in need of housing.

It took a little less than a month to complete, and Alana could not be more proud of her students.

"We had a $200 budget to use at the Restore to choose which used furniture could be transformed into a doghouse. But it was more than that, for the students it was a transformation from something that's been discarded into an expression of caring for the community." Alana offers.

Industrial Middle School Students Build Works of Heart

There are multiple dog houses built by various teams to choose from, so if you're looking for a unique Christmas present for your fur baby, here is where to get a meaningful gift for your pet that also helps build homes for families in the Crossroads.

You can view their doghouse and bid on it to extend their art with heart to help build for the future.

The ReStore Flip website is open for bidding. All bidding, voting, and raffle drawing will close promptly at 4:45 on November 30th.

You can view, bid, donate or purchase the ReStore Flip doghouses here.

" We hope that all of you will come out and support this great event on November 30th from 3 to 5 at the ReStore parking lot located at 4103 North Navarro." GC Habitat says.

"I am so lucky to work with a school district and students who are willing to use their gifts and their time to help those who are less fortunate than they are." Alana offers.

Awesome, awesome kids!
