Preseason games in the NFL are necessary for teams to get some playing time against another team, but sometimes disaster strikes as it did for the Houston Texans Lamar Miller. In last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys, the Texans star running back suffered a torn ACL that ends his season even before it begins.

Miller was hit on his first carry in the first game he's appeared in this preseason by Cowboys defensive tackle Maliek Collins who hit him in his leg. That resulted in a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee which means the Texans number one back will be on the bench this year.

Coach Bill O'Brien is expressing optimism with the other backs on the team including Duke Johnson, who became a Texan earlier this month in a trade with Cleveland. Johnson played 4 seasons with the Browns and played in every game. The Texans play their final preseason game tomorrow night (Thursday, August 29) against the Los Angeles Rams.
