Texas Gov. Abbott has issued a Disaster Declaration for 29 Texas counties at 8:15 am this morning as Tropical Storm Beta makes its way to the Southeast coast of Texas.

Tropical Storm Beta is expected to bring heavy winds and rains along with posing a "threat of imminent disaster, including widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to widespread flooding, storm surge, and damaging winds," the proclamation states.

"This storm is expected to make landfall this evening and has already caused storm surge and damaging winds along the Texas Coast. The State of Texas is working closely with local officials on the ground to provide the resources communities need to respond to Tropical Storm Beta" Gov. Abbott's Facebook page offered here.

According to the declaration itself, the counties that are part of the declaration include: Aransas, Bee, Bexar, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Liberty, Live Oak, Matagorda, Nueces, Orange, Refugio, Sabine, San Augustine, San Patricio, Shelby, Travis, Victoria, and Wharton.

“As Tropical Storm Beta approaches the coast, I urge Texans in the path of the storm to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from flooding, storm surge, and other impacts from this severe weather,” Abbott said in a written statement. “The State of Texas is working closely with local officials on the ground to provide the resources our communities need to respond to Tropical Storm Beta and keep residents safe.” says Gov. Abbott.
