Fans who flocked to the Bangor Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine this past weekend (Sunday, July 8) were in for an added bonus when Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw reunited on stage with his former Damn Yankees bandmate Ted Nugent as part of the Midwest Rock ‘N’ Roll Express Tour.

The collaboration marked one of just a handful of occasions when the two have united in front of a live audience since their union in the Yankees supergroup. The two iconic musical legends wowed the crowd with a performance of ‘Coming of Age’ during Styx’s set. (Dear Internet: We’re very disappointed in you for not having video of this up yet.)

Fans have all been anxiously awaiting for something along those lines since Styx’s James Young had eluded to various stage collaborations in the works during the trek. “I think something will certainly happen, but I dare not predict what it might be,” Young recently told Billboard magazine. “I look forward to being pleasantly surprised and delighted by it all.”

“My music and band are so much fun every night it’s indescribable,” says Nugent. “But when you can be joined by incredible musicians like Dave Amato [from REO Speedwagon and a former member of Nugent’s band] and Tommy Shaw for a spontaneous jam on these classic songs, it is literally out of body. These guys have the fire.”

Next up for Nugent is his 40-city Great White Buffalo Tour, set to kick off on Aug. 25 in Dallas, Texas. Visit the singer’s official website by clicking here to see a full list of dates where the tour will be stopping.
