Corpus Christi Under Tap Water Ban Until Further Notice

Late Wednesday evening, officials in Corpus Christi issued a ban on drinking or cooking with tap water effective until further notice for the entire city and surrounding areas.

A press release from the city points to "a recent back-flow incident in the industrial district," and instructs residents to use just bottled water all food preparation, drinking, washing and bathing needs until further notice.

Corpus area schools have also canceled classes for today.

The city suspects an oil based chemical somehow was released into the water supply.  As of this blog post most major stores in the city were out of bottled water.  So if you are headed to Corpus today....make sure to bring your own water.
