Victoria residents who had to deal with (and are still dealing with) insurance companies and state and federal agencies to get money to rebuild after Hurricane Harvey know how frustrating that process can be. That's why the City of Victoria has decided to hire a company to help them get the millions of dollars needed to enhance and strengthen the city to prevent future flood damage.

The company Grantworks specializes in helping local governments apply for federal and state grants, and city councilors voted this week to spend the money to hire the company. The city has worked with Grantworks before, and they'll be looking to get around $30 million for projects including building a safe room in the fire station, improving drainage around the city, and generators to keep sanitary sewer plant running during power outages.
