As much as I hate west coast games because they don't even start until 9pm, I'm somewhat relieved that the Astros are playing the Seattle Mariners. Let's face it....the Mariners aren't exactly the best team in baseball.

The Astros are on the west coast as you might have gathered. Playing a 3 game series with Seattle. Meanwhile, the Rangers are at home against Detroit which are rather streaky. To say these last few games of the season are important is an understatement.

The Rangers went into last night leading the AL west by 2.5 games. The Astros squeaked by the Mariners 3-2 and the Rangers lost to Detroit closing the gap in the division to just 1.5 games.

You can't rule out those Pesky Angels though. They're only a half game behind the Astros and of course they won last night as well.

There is always the Wild Card spot should the Astros fail to lock up the division but that race is just as tight. The top 3 teams fighting for the last wild card spot are all separated by just 1 game. It's coming down to the wire.

The Astros have 2 games left with the Mariners before heading to Arizona to close out the season with a 3 game series against the Diamondbacks while the Rangers and Angels each have 6 games left.

Welcome to September baseball.
