The Houston Astros have taken a commanding 6 1/2 game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West following a 4-game sweep over the division bottom dwellers the Texas Rangers.

In action at Minute Maid Park yesterday, George Springer was 5-for-5 at the plate including 2 homers and 4 RBIs in the game, and also his 15th home run of the season to lead the American League.

The win marks 5-in-a-row for the Astros, it was also a slump-ender for Alex Bregman who hit a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning, and a 3-run homer in the 5th.

Next up for the Astros is a 3-game road trip to Detroit to go up against the Tigers, who are 6 1/2 games back in the AL Central in 3rd place.
