Amber Alert for 2-Year-Old Frankie Gonzalez Ends Tragically

If you have had your phone close by in the last 24 hours you may have noticed an Amber Alert sent across Texas for 2-year-old Frankie Gonzalez.

Police in Waco released a statement this morning saying they believe they have found the body of the small boy in Waco's Cameron Park.

KTXS News is reporting the search in the Cameron Park area has been called off.

Frankie Gonzalez was last seen on Monday afternoon near the restroom area of the Cameron Park splash pad near Pecan Bottoms. This morning, Waco police say investigators located the body of a small child they believe to be Frankie near the Parklake Baptist Church. This portion of the park is being considered a crime scene and is now closed to the public. Officers tried to sort out the situation for over 12 hours at the park, including interviewing the boy's relatives until after midnight.

Frankie's amber alert mentioned him wearing a Mickey Mouse t-shirt. Various articles of clothing that seemed to match what Frankie was wearing had been found in the area. Police say a Mickey shirt similar to the one Frankie was wearing was found near the park but police don't think this shirt belonged to the 2-year-old boy. They also found a pair of shoes nearby could have belonged to Frankie.

Waco Police, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office helicopter, and even employees from the Cameron Park Zoo all tried to assist authorities in looking for the boy. SWAT team members, and a bloodhound team that came over from Gatesville to help look for Frankie. Texas Parks and Wildlife tracking dogs also assisted in looking for the boy.

At this time, police do not have a suspect in Frankie's disappearance.
