Nobody likes to be the butt of a joke, but most people don't react the way actor Matthew Lillard did over a tweet that made fun of a movie role he played.  Comedy writer David Thorpe of the website SomethingAwful.com was apparently trying to get a reaction from the actor, who he has picked on before.

Tweeting last week to the actor, Thorpe said:

"Hey @lillardmatthew, I'm just watching Hackers, is there some way to pay $50 to go back in time and punch you in the face in that movie?"

Well, as you might expect the actor, who was in that movie, along with other notable roles in Scream, SLC Punk, and Scooby Doo, reacted with a tweet of his own:

"No, there's no way to do that. Unlucky huh? But I'll give you a hundred if I can punch you in the face. I think I would like that."

Thorpe has picked on the actor before, namely in a satirical piece called DMT: The Lillard Molecule. Thorpe went on to use the threat as the basis for an article that outlines the terms of any possible fight.

  • If you line it up wrong and just wing me, or if you miss entirely for some reason, I'll definitely let you swing again. In fact, if your stage training or your natural aversion to punching another person in the face causes you to hesitate and pull the punch, I'd be happy to let you take another crack at my melon.
  • It would be my pleasure to buy us both a beer before the punch, just so we can both loosen up and enjoy it. It can be pretty good beer, whatever you want. I can even bring some Pliny the Elder from the Bay Area. I will spare no expense in purchasing these beers for us, especially since I'll be getting a hundred bucks in a little while.
  • I know that times are tough, what with the economy and all, so it's OK if you can't get all the money together at once. If you'd like, you can pay the hundred dollars in installments.

While other satirical articles poking fun at celebrities have resulted in fundraising events for charity, this one likely won't following Lillard's responding tweet:

"I want to punch your face but can't, you will punch me back and I'm savagely handsome and that would ruin my good looks. Sorry."

I think they could probably raise a lot of money with an event like that. Remember celebrity boxing with Screech? I can't even remember who he fought. Was it it Arnold Horschack?
