The team with the best odds to win the World Series this year is the Washington Nationals, with a 7-to-1 chance, just edging out the Blue Jays and Tigers, who are both at 8 to 1.

It's quite a step up for a team that not too long ago was the National League East doormat. As recently as 2010, the Nats were regularly losing 90-plus games a year. That all turned around in a big way last season, when they finished with the best record in baseball, 98-64.

Over in the American League, the Blue Jays and Tigers both look like solid picks for a pennant. The Jays added a slew of talent, including defending N.L. Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey, Josh Johnson and Jose Reyes, to a roster that already included sluggers Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion.

The Tigers, who reached the World Series last year, added outfielder Torii Hunter and will get power-hitting catcher Victor Martinez back this time around. (Martinez was injured all last season.)

Just behind those teams are the two Los Angeles teams, the Dodgers and the Angels (of Anaheim), both with a 9-to-1 shot according to Vegas. At the very bottom are the lowly Marlins and Astros, so if you feel like picking a long shot, well, don't bother actually. Even 250 to 1 sounds generous.
