Every child in the United States is entitled to a free public school education. However, according to a new survey from Gallup of 1012 adults, public schools rate lowest among all the education options children have.

Respondents to the poll were asked to rate different types of schools as "excellent" "good" "only fair" and "poor." Private schools were rated 77 percent excellent or good, followed by parochial or church-run schools (69 percent), charter schools (60 percent) and home schooling (46 percent.) Pulling up the rear with a 37 percent rating of either excellent or good were public schools.

Overall, only 47 percent of parents were satisfied the quality of education their children receive.
