Is the Gap breakin’ the law? If so, they’ve got another thing coming according to Mastadon guitarist Bill Kelliher, who recently saw a t-shirt sold by the chain that looks suspiciously like the cover of Judas Priest‘s ‘Screaming for Vengeance’ album.

Kelliher put the two images together for comparison (left) and posted it to his Instagram feed with the text, “Leave it to The Gap to steal ideas for kid T-shirts. Seriously poor taste.” Metal Insider found the story and compared the Gap’s shirt with Doug Johnson’s cover artwork.

The timing of the shirt couldn’t have been more perfect. On Sept. 4, the band will release a 30th Anniversary Edition of the hit 1982 album. The set contains six live cuts, a bonus DVD of the band’s May 29, 1983 performance in San Bernadino, Calif., photos from Mark Weiss and liner notes from ‘That Metal Show’ host Eddie Trunk.

Judas Priest recently finished a world tour and will soon begin writing the follow-up to 2008′s ‘Nostradamus.’ Still, lead singer Rob Halford took time off to weigh in — in a very balanced manner, we might add — on the current controversy surrounding Chick-fil-A‘s president’s comments about gay marriage.
