Good news for those of us that live in Victoria-we’re not on the Top 10 most dangerous cities for drivers. On the other hand, we’re also not on the Top 10 safest cities either. There are a couple of Texas cities that did make both lists, check them out below.

 

The CDC reports that in 2009, there were more than 34,000 American auto fatalities, and a fifth of them were young people between the ages of 15 and 24 — making car crashes the number one cause of death in that age group.

To determine the safest and most dangerous cities in which to drive, researchers compared rates of motor vehicle crash deaths across cities and the 50 most densely populated metropolitan areas in the US.

The 10 most dangerous cities for drivers:

  2. Memphis, TN
  3. Glendale, TN
  4. Miami, FL
  5. Las Vegas, NV
  6. Birmingham, AL
  7. Sacramento, CA
  8. Tampa, FL
  9. San Antonio, TX
  10. Jacksonvile, FL

The 10 safest cities (not ranked because there were no significant differences. here they are in alphabetical order)

  • Boston, MA
  • Buffalo, NY
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Hartford, CT
  • Newark, NJ
  • Plano, TX
  • Providence, RI
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • Santa Ana, CA
