One of the problems that arose as a result of Hurricane Harvey was the City of Victoria water system going down for several days, and even after it came back online, residents still needed to boil water for a week to be sure the water was safe to use. Because of that, the city has hired an engineering firm to study ways to prevent that from happening in the future.

City councilors hired a company called CDM Smith to review the system and recommend what kind of generators the city should invest in to keep water flowing safely during power outages.

In a meeting yesterday, city officials decided they were not qualified to make that assessment, and agreed to hire the company for $38,000 to complete the study, which is expected to take about 2 months to complete.
