Victoria Hastings Closing It’s Doors

Hastings' fate has been somewhat in limbo since the company announced in mid-June that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Rumors swirled about the store staying open, followed by rumors the store would be closing. Earlier this month, they suspended movie and video game rental until a buyer could be found and the future of the store had a more concrete direction. Well, we now know what direction that is. The store will be closing for good.

It wasn't that they didn't find a buyer, on the contrary, Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners decided to buy the franchise. However, they announced that they do, in fact, plan to liquidate all brick and mortar stores as well as all ecommerce business assets.

All stores, e-commerce business and corporate offices will be closed at the end of liquidation process. The company is not releasing individual store information and did not have a timeline of store closures.

Sad, I really liked Hastings. They had some unique items nobody else around here had. Well, looks like those items will be heavily discounted as soon as they announce when the store will close. I'll keep you posted on when that will be.
