It was a packed house last night at Riverside Stadium, as the Victoria Generals took care of the Texas Marshals 9-6 in Texas Collegiate League action.

By the end of the fourth inning, the Generals had a good lead of 6-1, but in the fifth and sixth innings, the Marshals got back in the game evening the score.

David Piaz, Jr. hit a the team's first homer on the young season, and a few additional hits gave the Generals the runs they needed to finish the scoring at 9-6.

The score would hold that way as Juan Cortina pitched a scoreless eighth and Glenn Sparkman notched his second save of the season as he struck out the side in the ninth.

Chase Angelle picked up the win in relief, his first of the season, allowing two unearned runs on one hit with two strikeouts in two innings.

Romeo Cortina and Mac Seibert paced the Generals offense with three hits apiece.

With the win, the Generals improve to 4-1 on the season and the Marshals fall to 2-3.

The two teams will meet again tonight in game two of the series at 7:05pm.
