It was a nail biter last night at Riverside Stadium, and the Victoria Generals emerged victorious over the East Texas Pumpjacks 5-3.

Generals starting pitcher Daniel Tunchez, Jr. was in and out of trouble all through his five innings on the night, but got some big outs when he needed them. Tunchez allowed just two runs on three hits with six strikeouts and four walks, but despite his efforts, he didn't factor into the decision. Chase Angelle picked up the win in relief, giving up just one run in two innings with two strikeouts. Alex Klonowski recorded three straight fly outs in the eighth and Kaleb Keith picked up his third save of the season by retiring the Pump Jacks in order in the ninth.

With the win, the Generals improved to 12-5 on the Texas Collegiate League season, the Pump Jacks fell to 6-10.

The two teams will meet again tonight for game two of the series.  It will be another Wing Stop Winning Wednesday.  If the Generals win on Wednesday night, all fans will receive free admission to the Generals next Wednesday home game.  Fans can also play baseball bingo for $1 per card.  Game time is 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.

Go Generals!
