Victoria Generals Make it 2 in a Row With Win Over Marshals

The Victoria Generals were playing catch up most of the night against the Texas Marshals last night at Riverside Stadium, but they did manage to pick up a 1 run victory 7-6.

The 2nd place Generals took on the last place Marshals, but struggled throughout most of the game. The Marshals scored 4 runs in the 2nd, and the Generals didn't produce any runs until the 3rd.

As far as pitching is concerned, Bryce Welborn, the starter for the Generals, was replaced in the 6^th inning by Chris Hassold. Welborn allowed five runs and eight hits on the night. He recorded three strikeouts during his campaign on the mound.

The Generals scored in the 9^th after Cedric Vallieres was nailed by a pitch with the bases loaded. Kyle Danford was walked with the bases loaded, tying the game up when Matthew Burks crossed home plate. Brian Portelli finished the comeback off with a single hit hard directly at the short stop who was unable to handle it.

Armando Arevalo gets the win for the Generals, recording a no hitter in the 9^th inning. Keaton Brewer receives his first loss of the season after giving up two free runs and the game winning hit in the bottom of the 9^th. Next up for the Generals, it's game 2 of the series at 7:35pm tonight at Riverside Stadium.
