Winning streaks have been few, and far between for the Victoria Generals in the 2nd half of the Texas Collegiate League season, but the team is heading in the right direction with a 3-2 win last night over the Acadiana Cane Cutters.

The Generals got on the board in the top of the third inning on back-to-back doubles by Romeo Cortina and Jordan Camel.

The Cane Cutters responded in the bottom of the frame with a run on an RBI groundout to tie it up at 1-1.

Camel continued his hot streak at the plate with a two-run triple to right field in the top of the fourth inning to score Alvaro Rondon and Cortina and give the Generals a 3-1 lead.

The Cane Cutters made it a one-run game by scoring on a throwing error by Generals catcher Aaron Morgan in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the lead to 3-2.  Juan Cortina picked up his first save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Zac Vasek picked up his first win of the season by allowing just one run on three hits in five innings with three strikeouts.  Kris Looper pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts.  Argenis Angulo allowed an unearned run without allowing a hit in the eighth.

The Generals relievers did not allow a hit through the final four innings of the game.  The Cane Cutters managed just three hits in the game, all coming off of Vasek.

Camel drove in all three runs for the Generals in the game.  He went 2-for-4 on the night with a double and a triple.  Rondon, Cortina, and Jacob Hubert each had two hits on the night as well for the Generals.

With the win, the Generals improve to 25-26 on the season and 8-13 in the second-half. The Cane Cutters fall to 28-24 overall and 14-8 in the second-half.

The Generals return home to Victoria tonight to host the Texas Marshals in a two-game series at Riverside Stadium. Tonight is Hog Night presented by Victoria Harley Davidson.  All fans that ride their motorcycle to the game will receive free admission.  The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a Generals bandanna courtesy of Victoria Harley Davidson.  It's also Thirsty Thursday presented by Beef 'O' Brady's with $1 draft beer on the party deck all game long.
