A student resource officer tased a Victoria East High School student after the 16-year-old punched and kicked a wall Tuesday morning.

The student was reportedly just informed of his suspension from school for violating the district's code of conduct and that's where he became violent and began punching and kicking at the walls.

A school resource officer tried repeatedly to get the student to calm down to no avail. Backup was called and the student was still resisting. Resource officers assessed the student may have been a danger to himself or other students so the decision was made to use non-lethal force and he was tased and taken into custody.

Good! In this day and age people seem to want to protect their kids while ignoring the growing lack of respect for authority. Some people want to point blame at others instead of taking a look at how they may be raising their children.

Not saying this is the case in this situation. I know nothing about the kid who was tased. However, I'm OK with the fact that they gave him every chance to calm down and he refused. Kids need to learn that there are consequences for their actions.

Personally, if it were my kid and he stepped out of line like that, I'd fully support law enforcement's decision to tase him. But you always have a group of people out there who can and will protest this kind of thing.

I just don't get it.

After being tased the student was able to stand up and was escorted off campus. His punishment is unknown at this time.
