According to a reliable source, Van Halen have signed a record deal with Interscope Records, meaning their upcoming album will be the band’s first ever not to be released by their longtime label, Warner Brothers.

Our friends at the Van Halen News Desk, who very rarely waste anybody’s time when it comes to reliable news, state that a deal has been signed, and that Van Halen’s new album will released early next year on a set but not yet revealed release date. (We’re still betting on February, which is what our inside sources told us a month ago.)

The record will be their first since 1998′s ‘III,’ and the first full-length Van Halen record to feature new music from original vocalist David Lee Roth since 1984′s ’1984.’ It will also mark the beginning of new bassist Wolfgang Van Halen’s recording career with the band. Eddie’s son replaced original member Michael Anthony (currently tearing it up with second Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar in Chickenfoot) for VH’s reunion tour with Roth in 2007.

As we reported last week, the Grammy Nominations show has dropped some pretty clear hints that Van Halen will be turning up on their broadcast Nov. 30 to make a major announcement about their reunion plans.
