Over the last couple of years, we’ve heard a lot about Universal’s plans for a new shared universe of movies based on their classic monsters, and yet only one of those films — The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise — is currently in production. The studio has plans for a few more horror reboots from the creative team of Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, and it looks like one of those movies has a release date — but which one?

Deadline reports that Universal has claimed February 15, 2019 for an untitled monster reboot, taking the President’s Day release date that proved successful for films like Kingsman and Deadpool. The untitled project joins The Mummy, which marks the directorial debut of Kurtzman and hits theaters on June 9, 2017. Tom Cruise stars in the reboot opposite Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson and Courtney B. Vance.

As for what this new mystery film could possibly be, we know that Universal is developing reboots of The Wolf Man, Bride of Frankenstein and The Invisible Man. Prisoners scribe Aaron Guzikowski is writing The Wolf Man, while Johnny Depp is attached to The Invisible Man (finally, a role that’s made entirely of hats) and — last we heard — the studio has been eyeing Angelina Jolie to star in and possibly direct Bride of Frankenstein.

Universal previously claimed April 13, 2018 for another untitled monster movie reboot, though that date is rumored to belong to The Wolf Man.

At any rate, we’ve done an awful lot of reporting on Universal’s ambitious plans for this new shared horror movie universe despite the fact that we’ve seen so little from it — unless you’re counting Dracula Untold, a movie that the people at Universal probably don’t even remember.
