If you travel U.S. Highway 59 between Victoria and Edna, a smoother road surface is in the works.

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced a plan to resurface the roadway along a 10 mile stretch from the Victoria County line to just south of the city of Edna.

The project, which is expected to take about six months to complete, is scheduled to begin in late spring or early summer, and will reduce travel to one lane while the work is being done.

Officials say the project will help water drain more efficiently from the roadway.
