Criminal charges could await two John Jay High School football players after what seems like a normal, routine play but ended up anything but.

The Marble Falls Police Department announced it is investigating the incident and reviewing multiple videos recorded of the game. Last Friday night at a game at Marble Falls High School, a video shows a John Jay High School football player knocking down a referee. A second player is then shown in the video spearing the official, who was still on the ground.

It is not clear yet what the motives are. There are rumors that the referee ejected JJHS's star player moments before and made a few bad calls prior. Another rumor is that the referee used racial slurs when addressing a couple of players. Either way, this is not the way to go about getting revenge. Someone could have seriously been injured and now the players could face felony assault charges all because the helmet could be considered a weapon.

Below is the video from the game. I'll post more information as it becomes available.
