Cleopatra Records, who recently put out a collection of progressive rock stars performing Supertramp songs, will next set their sights on the the Who. On Oct. 2, the label will release 'Who Are You: An All-Star Tribute To The Who.'

Sixteen classics by the Who will be played by many of their admirers, but unlike previous Cleopatra releases, the performers are not limited to progressive and hard rock. The album brings together musicians from across the musical spectrum, sometimes in surprising combinations.

For example, 'Magic Bus' features vocals by Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits, with Peter Banks -- the original guitarist for Yes -- and Ginger Baker of Cream on drums. Even country music is represented, with Gretchen Wilson, who had a massive hit in 2004 with 'Redneck Woman,' joining Randy Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive on 'Who Are You.'

But perhaps the strangest pairing is Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & the Raiders and Wayne Kramer of the MC5 performing 'I Can See for Miles,' the Who's only Top Ten hit. The Who will begin a world tour, where they will perform their 1973 album 'Quadrophenia' in its entirety, in November.
